We supply both porcelain and ceramic tile. But which should I choose?
Porcelain Tiles
1. Material: Made from denser clay and fired at higher temperatures, making them less porous and more durable.
2. Water Resistance: Highly resistant to moisture, making them suitable for wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
3. Durability: More durable and less prone to chipping or cracking compared to ceramic.
4. Use: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. Often used in high-traffic areas due to their strength.
5. Maintenance: Easier to clean and maintain due to lower porosity.
Ceramic Tiles
1. Material: Made from natural clay and fired at lower temperatures, making them generally less dense than porcelain tiles.
2. Water Resistance: More porous, which can make them less suitable for areas with high moisture unless treated with a sealant.
3. Durability: Less durable than porcelain; they can chip and crack more easily.
4. Use: Ideal for light to moderate traffic areas inside the home, such as living rooms or dining areas.
5. Variety: Available in a wider range of colors, patterns, and styles, often at a lower cost.
Summary
- Choose Porcelain if you need durability and water resistance, and plan to use the tiles in wet areas or high-traffic zones.
- Choose Ceramic for decorative purposes in low-traffic areas or where budget is a major consideration.
Both options offer unique benefits, so consider your specific needs when making a decision.
